Sedus Stoll AG, the German company founded in 1871, is a leading manufacturer in office furniture and has office chair history with its models. They process hundreds of kilometers of tubes every day to make thousands of chairs at their site in Dogern.

In recent years, the R&D team at Sedus Stoll AG has won numerous awards for its commitment to innovative solutions.

The target

Ergonomics and eco-friendliness together, with quality and design are the columns of the Sedus production philosophy. Combining beautiful design with the needs of the human body is no easy affair. An ergonomic chair must be high-quality, but also the end price - and consequently the cost - must be taken into account.

Production was performed in a succession of steps on the same part and the process was not economically advantageous. Then came the BLM GROUP bending systems.

The solution

The first BLM GROUP tube bending machine arrived in 2005. Today, they have three E-TURN40 machines and one ELECT40.

Sedus makes a hundred or so different models with an average of 124,533 bent parts a year.

With the BLM GROUP machines, Sedus makes a pivoting frame model using up to four different bending radii and variable radius tools in the same working cycle, which was unimaginable before.

The ELECT is a tube bending machine with right-handed and left-handed bending capabilities. The all-electric technology guarantees top-notch precision and repeatability on all radii, no manual adjustments and maximum speed in setting up a new part.
